DISTANCE, PRESENCE
The opposing states of distance and presence are represented in this body of work using cloud imagery. The work reflects the time my husband and I spend together and apart due to his work in the military. Distant clouds and open, empty skies speak to deployments, while other work revels in time at home. While I was making this work, the pandemic hit and "social distancing" became a new reality. I realized that distance and presence were happening at the same time: we were both distanced from other people, and extremely present to ourselves and co-habitants.
